Warden Henry J Abels
Warden Henry J Abels, died on duty on August 21, 1925, Santa Barbara. From Fish and Game, Vol 12 January 1926: Abels died of apoplexy (stroke) while on duty in the Santa Barbara Mtns. approximately twenty-eight miles east of Santa Maria. He had been appointed a U.S. Forest Ranger in 1894, one of the first Rangers in CA. He was appointed as a Game Warden for Santa Barbara Co. in 1899, became an Assistant Warden in 1906, and appointed a county Game Warden for Santa Barbara in 1917. |
