Warden Captain Fred W. Hecker

Warden Captain Fred W. Hecker, died on Jan. 20, 1950 while on patrol between Avila and Morro Bay, San Luis Obispo Co. 63 years old. From Fish and Game, Vol 36 July 1950: Hecker was patrolling on foot near Baywood Park about 6 miles South of Morro Bay with Warden E. C. Fullerton and CHP officer S.J. Lusardi. He was approximately fifty feet away from his companions on a cliff overlooking the ocean. Fullerton reported seeing Hecker clutch his chest an fall over the cliff. His body was seen shortly thereafter in the water but attempts to recover it were unsuccessful. Survived by wife Florence and Daughter Edith.
