As Mike says, “I’ve written and published a memoir (Outskirts Press), AN AMERICAN POSSIBILITY which has as a large part of it, stories about my time as a game warden.”

I don’t know about you, but I always enjoy finding a new book by a fellow game warden. After 30 years on the job as a warden, I love reading about other game warden’s tales.

My love started with “Tales of the Fish Patrol” by Jack London, and continues to this day.

What an honor it was to be interviewed in Morro Bay by Tom Wilmer, the illustrious host of National Public Radio’s hit program, “Journeys of Discovery.” The show will be broadcast this Wednesday, July 9, at 1:00 or 1:15 PM, throughout Central California, on NPR affiliates KCBX, KSBX, and KNBX. It will also air worldwide at the same time on the KCBX website at http://kcbx.org.

Upon being advised that he was under arrest, Tucker jumped to his feet, dove in the river and began swimming toward the other side. Vinuchi ran off in the opposite direction.
With the ambient air temperature in the thirties and the water not much warmer, Tucker’s stunt took the young warden completely by surprise. Determined to prevent Tucker’s escape, Warden (Nick) Albert threw all caution aside, dropped his radio on the beach and dove in after him—in full uniform, including gun belt, boots and jacket. He caught up with Tucker about a third of the way across the river. Already tiring, Tucker grabbed at Albert, trying to climb on his back…

I don’t know about you, but I love to read Game Warden Stories.

I started reading game warden stories with The Tales of the Fish Patrol by Jack London. Then I read everyone of Terry Hodges’ books. After that I searched for more author. I found game warden stories from Jim Wictum, Terry Grosz, CJ Box and Kirk Russell among a few others. I even read Park Ranger stories from Nevada Barr. Now, I have a new author to read. How exciting!!!

One of our own, Retired Lt. Steve Callan, is releasing his new book, entitled Badges, Bears and Eagles, published by Coffeetown Press in Seattle.

His book comes out March 1, but you can pre-order it now on Amazon.
